Spanish reports have revealed that FC Barcelona is working to snatch a highly anticipated transfer from their traditional rival, Real Madrid, during the upcoming summer transfer window.
According to the Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo,” Barcelona is aiming to sign Canadian defender Alphonso Davies. Real Madrid has already shown interest in acquiring Davies, whose contract with Bayern Munich expires at the end of the current season, potentially making him a free agent.
The report also highlighted that Barcelona is monitoring players with expiring contracts as part of its strategy to secure free transfers, due to the club’s financial difficulties under president Joan Laporta. Davies’ name appears on the list of targeted players, along with Jonathan Tah, a Bayer Leverkusen player whose contract also ends in June. However, Barcelona faces a significant challenge in persuading Davies to choose them over Real Madrid, which has long considered him a key part of the team’s future.
